National Truck Driver Appreciation Week

National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is September 13 through 19, 2015, and it’s the perfect opportunity to thank those who keep America moving on a daily basis. There are more than three million professional truck drivers in the United States who not only deliver the goods we need daily, but are also dedicated to keeping our highways safe along the way. Despite their value to the economy, truck drivers are often unsung heroes who do not get the respect they deserve for work that requires skill, constant attention to detail and countless hours on the roads, often away from their family for days at a time.

History of NTDAW

The American Trucking Association began National Truck Driver Appreciation Week in 1988 as a way to bring attention to the benefits provided by truck drivers throughout the country. The entire week is dedicated to events that allow Americans to honor professional truck drivers for the difficult job they perform on a daily basis. Over the years, the event has grown significantly as a way to give drivers the respect they deserve.

Events for the Week

Throughout the country, many events are lined up for National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. Motor carriers, shippers and other industries, along with the ATA and its state affiliates, hold award ceremonies, cookouts and offer other expressions of appreciation to truck drivers. In California, there will be free barbecue lunches, driver safety exhibits, networking opportunities and more at various facilities throughout the state. Other states are also in the planning stages for events designed to give back to America’s truck drivers. Driver recognition has become critical to retaining drivers, especially during a time when qualified drivers are growing scarce.

Recognize Your Drivers

With National Truck Driver Appreciation Week just around the corner, it is time to start thinking about ways to recognize the truck drivers who provide valuable services for your business. Made-to-order gifts are an excellent way to give truck drivers the recognition they deserve, and Conversion Interactive Agency has a ton of options for you and your fleet.
